I don't know about you but I've seen enough warm, glowing cottages to last a lifetime. I don't care to imagine that I can smell bread baking in the kitchen or that the people inside are drinking hot chocolate by a glowing fire and I sure don't want to waste my time trying to see how many "N's" I can find per painting.

Thomas Kinkade refers to himself as the "painter of light." Well I'm "the painter of bricks." For the last six years my passion has been to render alleys and other city scenes in prisma colored pencil. I suppose my work falls under the catagory of the "ash can" school of art but personally I like to think of it as Kafka meets Disney.

My wife says I do alleys because they won't let me on the main streets. She might have a point but whatever the case I love to paint and draw these old buildings. These buildings are not just facades, they have character, they've been around and if they could talk, man would you hear some stories.

My alleys are a world of bricks and broken glass, of dumpsters and drain pipes and of buildings which were once engaged in the busy commerce of a thriving encomony now gone.
